This is the formal fully airconditioned dining area and has restrictions on dress, use by children and hours of service. The high beamed roof with its impressive rafters, the stately lighting, tall doors and windows all lend an air of great dignity and a regal touch to this premier dining venue. With a seating capacity of about 45 persons, there are also two private dining areas each accommodating 8 diners.
The River Room is primarily a Western cuisine specialty restaurant with a number of old club favourites that continue to be created with great skill. Dishes like Mulligatawny soup [reputedly invented here], roast mutton, good ‘ole fish ‘n chips, steaks, sizzlers, bread and butter pudding and a variety of souffle’s are a few among a wide menu.
The restaurant also caters Indian, particularly South Indian, cuisines and a limited range of Chinese food.
